SafeTPen is designed as a safer way to deliver phenol to the nail matrix for ablation during nail surgery procedures.
– Each ampoule contains 0.4mls of phenol liquid (89% USP concentration) safely contained within a glass ampoule and has an outer plastic delivery device
– The tip is made from compressed polyester. The polyethene applicator tip is tapered at the point of application to allow more accurate delivery than the cotton tips currently available on the market.
– The phenol within the glass ampoule of SafeTPen is released by breaking the glass ampoule at the proximal and then distal end and by a gentle squeeze to allow the phenol to impregnate the tip
The delivery device and application allows accurate delivery of the phenol to the nail matrix where the phenol will create a chemical cauterisation during ablation. The glass ampoule and plastic delivery system significantly reduces the potential and risk of phenol coming into contact with skin, clothing or surfaces prior to the procedure.
Furthermore, by using SafeTPen during the ablation of the nail matrix, it prevents the risk of phenol spilling over into the sulci during delivery or over the eponychium and underneath the tourniquet.
